Florida State Republican Lawmaker Incites Genocide on Palestine
A Florida State Republican lawmaker, Michelle Salzman, unabashedly called for the genocide of all Palestinians on Thursday November 9, 2023, during a debate within the state legislature calling for a ceasefire on Israel’s bombardment of Gaza.
Angie Nixon, a Democratic Florida state representative, asked in a speech saying, “We are at 10,000 dead Palestinians. How many will be enough?”
“All of them,” Michelle Salzman called in reply.
“One of my colleagues just said, ‘All of them.’ Wow,” Nixon said, when Salzman interrupted her.
The Florida state house then voted 104-2 to reject Nixon’s resolution for a ceasefire.
The Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (Cair-Florida) – the US’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, released a statement saying Salzman’s comments were a “chilling call for genocide” and a “direct result of decades of dehumanization of the Palestinian people by advocates of Israeli apartheid and their eager enablers in government and the media.”
The death toll in Gaza has skyrocketed to 11,078 including 4,506 children and 3,027 women. Over 27,409 are also injured as Israeli forces continue to surround a number of hospitals in the besieged Gaza Strip forcing the injured to also evacuate the premises despite several patients needing urgent medical care.
