Google Employees Honor Co-Worker Killed by Israeli Airstrikes

Google’s employees have condemned the tech giant’s role in supplying technology to the Israeli regime at a gathering where a vigil was held honoring a Palestinian co-worker who was killed in an Israeli airstrike.

The victim, Mai Ubeid, was a software engineer who had completed the Google-funded coding boot camp called ‘Gaza Sky Geeks’. Back in 2020, Ubeid was also actively working in Google for the Startups accelerator program. Ubeid was killed along with her entire family in Gaza on Oct. 31, 2023.

At the vigil, Google employees heavily criticized Project Nimbus, which is a combined project between Google, Amazon and the Israeli regime. The project seeks to provide cloud and comfort service, artificial intelligence and machine learning to the Occupation entity and its military.
