Alabama to Carry Out First Ever Nitrogen Gas Execution

The State of Alabama is bracing to carry out the first-ever execution by nitrogen gas following the refusal of the US Supreme Court to intervene in the case of prison inmate Kenneth Smith. This will be held for 30 hours commencing on Thursday, January 25, 2024.

The use of Nitrogen hypoxia has caused outrage following concerns of the excessive pain and torture the gas causes. The inmate will be expected to inhale lethal concentrations of nitrogen gas which will cause complete oxygen deprivation.

Smith was sentenced to life for murdering Mrs. Sennett in 1988 in a murder-for-hire scheme who was paid $1000 by her husband to carry out the act.

Charles Sennett Sr. committed suicide before he was charged.
