US Embassy in Baghdad Attacked for its Support Towards Israeli Massacres on Gaza

Rockets have been fired at the United States embassy in Baghdad. Loud explosions were heard on Friday December 7, 2023 in Baghdad following Washington’s unwavering support for Israel’s onslaught on Gaza which has killed over 17,000 people in just two months.

Reports stated that the rockets landed on the outskirts of the district housing government and diplomatic buildings at dawn.

An Iraqi security official further stated that 14 Katyusha rockets were fired and while some reached the target, others plunged into the nearby Tigris River.

In one video, sirens blared as multiple explosions hit close to the building. Another depicted an area of Baghdad’s diplomatic zone as explosions went on in the background.

A US embassy statement confirmed that “two salvoes of rockets” were fired at the compound at 4:15 am (0115 GMT).

“Indications are the attacks were initiated by Iran-aligned militias,” a spokesperson said. “We again call on the government of Iraq … to do all in its power to protect diplomatic and coalition partner personnel and facilities.”

Iraqis who have supported Palestine have vowed retaliation against Israel and its closest ally, the US, for its genocide in Gaza.

The Pentagon further confirmed that since October 7th, US forces deployed in Iraq and Syria have been attacked 66 times.

Unsurprisingly, the US has blamed Iran for the attacks for “actively facilitating” rocket and drone attacks while they continue splurging on deadly arms for the Israeli regime to relentlessly bombard Palestine.

Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian has said that Tehran “neither gives orders to the resistance groups across the region nor stops them from taking decisions in their own countries based on their own interests.”
