US Congressman to Ban Entry of Palestinians to the US

Ryan Zinke, a US Republican Congressman has introduced a bill which seeks to ban the entry of Palestinians to the US.

Zinke, who currently sits in the US House of Representatives, initiated the ‘Safeguarding Americans from Extremism Act’ alongside 10 Republican colleagues on Thursday November 2, 2023. This also includes Representative Majorie Taylor Greene.

The proposed bill will not allow any Palestinian with a passport issued by the Palestinian authority from entering the US, in line with other restrictions:

“banning and revoking of visas, a ban on allowing asylum status and temporary protected status and revocation of said status if requested from October 1, a ban and revoking of parole from October 1 and issuing a crackdown on Palestinians without lawful status by US immigration agencies.”

The legislation further demeaningly calls Palestinians as “covered aliens” which loosely refers to “an alien who is a holder of a passport or other travel document issued by the Palestinian Authority.”

Zinke also said: “I don’t trust the Biden Administration any more than I do the Palestinian Authority to screen who is allowed to come into the United States.”

Zinke has also served as a secretary of the Department of Interior under former US President Donald Trump.
