Candace Owens Leaves Ben Shapiro’s Daily Wire Over Tensions on US Support and Funding of Israel
American far right media personality, Candace Owens, has left The Daily Wire, founded by the staunch pro-Israeli Ben Shapiro.
Owens took to X to confirm her exit by saying, “The rumors are true—I am finally free,” Owens then asked her supporters to follow her page on the website and to make a monetary donation, while announcing that she would now work as an independent journalist and podcaster.
“Obviously I’m going to take a couple weeks here to rebuild and to refocus and to create something that is actually mine and something that can’t be threatened or taken because it belongs to me…we’re still going to be doing five days a week, there’ll be tons of announcements coming in the next couple of weeks,” Owens said in a video announcement.
The former Daily Wire host was at loggerheads with her boss Ben Shapiro months before she announced her exit from the show, for her criticism of the “Israeli” regime’s ongoing brutal war in Gaza.
In November 2023, Owen’s pro-Palestine post seemed to offend her boss where she openly condemned the “Israeli” regime for its war crimes. “No government anywhere has a right to commit a genocide, ever. There is no justification for a genocide. I can’t believe this even needs to be said or is even considered the least bit controversial to state,” she wrote on X.
Shapiro then called her commentary “absolutely disgraceful,” in a private event to which Owens lashed back with a tweet from the Bible, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money,” she wrote. Shapiro then openly asked her to quit, to which she seemingly willingly obliged to, months after their feud.
