Annual Threat Report Reveals Major Shift in Global Power, US Facing Fragile World Order
The US is allegedly facing an “increasingly fragile world order,” due to shifting of power, transitional challenges, and regional conflicts, according to reports.
“An ambitious but anxious China, a confrontational Russia, some regional powers, such as Iran, and more capable non-state actors are challenging long standing rules of the international system as well as US primacy within it,” agencies say in their 2024 Annual Threat Assessment.
The report primarily focused on threats from China and Russia, the US’s two prime rival countries.
It is no secret that China is providing economic and security assistance to Russia in its war with Ukraine, supporting Russia’s industrial base, according to the report. The report has further accused China of having the technological capability to influence this year’s US elections.
“[China] may attempt to influence the US elections in 2024 at some level because of its desire to sideline critics of China and magnify US societal divisions,” the report states.
