Karbala Hosts its Third Annual Al-Aqsa International Conference in Support of Palestine
The Third International Al-Aqsa Call Conference concluded on Tuesday in Karbala, Iraq, after two days of powerful deliberations in support of the Palestinian struggle. The event, themed “From the Battle of Karbala to the Al-Aqsa Flood: The Victory of Will Over Tyranny,” drew religious and political leaders from over 60 countries, underscoring its significance amid the ongoing Israeli aggression against Ga-za.
The conference, organized by the Global Campaign for Return to Palestine under the auspices of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, commenced on Monday morning during the Arbaeen commemoration of Imam Hussein. Participants began the conference by visiting the revered shrine of Imam Hussein and performing prayers, setting a solemn tone for the event.
Keynote speeches by prominent Palestinian and international figures emphasized global solidarity with the Palestinian cause and the necessity of continued resistance against the Israeli regime. The conference’s concluding statement reiterated unwavering support for the Palestinian people, urging the severance of all ties with what they termed the “criminal Zionist regime.”
In addition to the main sessions, the conference featured discussions across three subcommittees focusing on the religious, educational, media, and legal dimensions of the Palestinian struggle. These sessions drew parallels between the historical injustices of Karbala and the current plight of Palestinians, calling for a global awakening to the importance of solidarity.
The event also highlighted Iraq’s steadfast support for Palestine, with special appreciation extended to the Iraqi government and people for their solidarity. The conference concluded with a symbolic tour of Baghdad and Najaf, further reinforcing the ties between the historical struggles of these holy cities and the contemporary fight for Palestinian liberation.
